What is mastectomy fitting? Mastectomy fitting is the practice of addressing medical conditions of the upper extremities and post-mastectomy surgical outcomes.

What does a mastectomy fitter do? Pursuant to a physician’s order, a mastectomy fitter measures a patient and properly fits, dispenses and adjusts external breast prostheses, bras and related supplies. Trained and certified mastectomy fitters are integral to the physical and emotional well-being of patients, providing instruction and training on how to properly use and maintain post-mastectomy devices.

What is a BOC Mastectomy Fitter?

cmf prerequisitesBOC Mastectomy Fitters (BOC CMF) are qualified to provide and/or supervise the assessment, treatment plan development and implementation, follow-up and practice management of people using external breast prostheses and other post-mastectomy services. BOC CMFs are recognized professionally as having completed a rigorous education and training program that satisfies industry standards. The BOC CMF Scope of Practice provides greater detail regarding the role of a BOC Certified Mastectomy Fitter.

To become a BOC CMF, you will need to:
